Battling Our Giants

Everyone encounters personal giants as part of the human experience. They spawn from internal sources, like self-doubt and fear of failure, or external sources, such as financial hardships or health issues. Some arise from specific circumstances, like relationship difficulties or job loss, while others result from societal pressures. Regardless of their origin, they become roadblocks on our paths to success.

These giants may seem vast and overwhelming while we are in the moment because they reduce confidence and increase feelings of inadequacy. They awaken our inner critic, convincing us that our challenges are insurmountable and our ability to conquer them questionable. We must know where these giants come from and understand the root causes of their existence before we determine the best ways to address and overcome them. The coping strategy we develop must be paired with a positive outlook and a commitment to physical health and well-being, which can expedite our exit from the difficult circumstances we are facing.

Proactive measures are essential. Prepare diligently to take control of stressful situations, ease anxiety, and boost confidence, especially when facing critical decision-making scenarios. Anchor yourself in accountability to build trust and credibility within your circle. Trust your instincts as you explore new possibilities and listen to your inner voice as you align your aspirations, even when they seem illogical or daunting. Use gentle, assertive language to encourage active listening and impactful collaboration. Stay composed to break down barriers and resolve conflicts.

It is equally vital to reflect on what is genuinely important to you so that your response to life’s obstacles aligns with the values you cherish. Engage in spiritual practices, whether prayer, meditation, or your faith journey. This will provide assurance, a new perspective, and the peace we seek. In difficult times, we must choose whether to rely entirely on ourselves or place our trust in something or someone greater. When I placed my trust in God, my perspective on these giants changed, and the intensity of my battles diminished, as did their grip on me. Though new challenges emerged, they no longer defined my direction in life.

Find strength within the depths of your struggles. Embrace life’s challenges as growth opportunities that shape you into a stronger person with a clear purpose. View failures as stepping stones of resilience that guide you toward things that truly matter as you overcome your giants with greater effectiveness.
